Walking Netballers from the popular Fareham Leisure Centre session raised £163.31 this week for the Macmillan Cancer charity as part of their ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning Campaign’.

Regulars from the group baked an array of treats for team mates and leisure centre users, selling them before and after their Monday afternoon session.

Walking Netball Host Kelly Wallis said the ladies were delighted with the amount raised “It exceeded our expectations! The ladies really stepped up, it’s a charity close to many of their hearts and we we’re only too pleased to support it. Congratulations to Judy Yoxall who won star baker – but well done to everyone involved as working together and raising that much money is a fab achievement!”

The ladies also used the event to spread the word about another Walking Netball session being launched at Fareham Leisure Centre.

Wallis added: “Thanks to the support of Everyone Active, we’re delighted to launch another Walking Netball session at Fareham Leisure Centre, starting on Thursday 12th October and running every week 12-1pm. Our Monday sessions have been so popular and we want more ladies to get involved! There’s nothing to lose, we have a giggle and don’t take it too seriously! Its more about being active and feeling better about ourselves, as well as making friends – there’s bound to be coffee and cake involved at some point too!”
